go directly to jail...

Daniel Macgowan - activist, new yorker, and victim of the U.S. governments ongoing witchhunt against environmentalists (AKA "the green scare") must report to federal custody tomorrow (July 2, 2007) for his role in two eco-sabotage actions in Oregon in 2001. Daniel was sentenced to 7 years in prison in the begining of June. Daniel's motion to stay out on bond until the Bureau of Prisons designates him to a permanent facility was denied - the court's reasons for denying this motion was his support website: www.supportdaniel.org and his interview on Democracy Now with Amy Goodman.

The government's pathetic attempt to silence our movement for social justice, ecological sustainability, and animal liberation through outlandish sentences for non-violent property destruction and to invoke fear and hopelessness in those of us who remain on the outside of the prison bars deserves collective resistance. As a friend once wrote: "Fight them like everything depends upon it. It does."
